Through its many programs and activities, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) connects manufacturing practitioners to each other, to the latest technology and the most up-to-date processes spanning all manufacturing industries and disciplines, plus the key areas of aerospace and defense, medical device, motor vehicles, including motorsports, oil and gas, and alternative energy. SME's professional development opportunities, available to individuals, companies and educators, provide the right tools and information to help advance careers and drive operations to new levels of productivity and competitiveness. SME offers several industry-standard certifications for professional recognition, and documentation of a member’s manufacturing-related knowledge and skills. These include the Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT), Certified Manufacturing Engineering (CMfgE) Certification and Lean Certification.
SME recently acquired Tooling University, which complements SME’s highly regarded in-person training and certification programs to create a flexible, on-demand, customized and content-rich blended learning solution.
